This was the first time ive ever been to an Eagles show. As an 18 year old guy i am not used to going to big venues and sitting in seats and i had a blast. It was one of the best concerts ive ever been to. unfortunatly reading this i realized i only saw the first encore. the concert was high energy and touching and its these bands that make me wish i had been born just a little bit earlier

I saw them @ Continental arena on 3/31- oh my god - it was so amazing! This is the first time I have seen them, and they blew everyone away. It was an amazing performance - incredible energy - so I'm going to see them again tomorrow (4/8) back at Continental arena! It was so worth it!

Eagles
Farewell I Tour
Byrne Meadowlands Arena
March 31, 2005
The Eagles moved back into the New York area last night for the first time since HFO in August of 1994. I feel fortunate that this portion of Farewell I will include 6 shows within a 90 minute drive of my home.
Having previously posting comments on the Atlanta and Providence dates, there is only so much you can say about the same tunes that are played dead perfect each night, so I will convey some of my other recollections of the show here.
A high energy rendition of the Long Run opened the show and brought the Byrne Meadowlands Arena crowd to their feet. (Sorry, no respect for Continental Airlines here. Cash strapped airlines should spend their money on aircraft maintenance, not arena naming rights!) Anyway, Joe’s slide part is a treat to hear and watch however this splendid part was slightly overpowered by the horns. I love the 3 part harmony into one Mic featuring TBS, GF and JW.
Glenn Frey welcomed the NJ crowd by asking if “anybody out there was from New Jersey?” to which Joe Walsh responded by raising his hand. (As I recall, Joe went to High School in Montclair, NJ and wore a Montclair Pys. Ed. Dept. T shirt when the Eagles played Giants Stadium in June of 1980). Glenn expounding on his found memories of playing in the NJ area over the years including venues such as the Capitol Theater in Passaic and Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. He joked on how there was a time 30 years ago when “the Eagles couldn’t get arrested in New York” He followed up by stating that “he eventually did get arrested, but that was another story”.
Other comical banter occurred when GF asked JW “how’s it going over there Joe”. to which JW’s reply went something like “I just got up a little while ago and it looked like it was going to be a nice day so far”
By and large, the audience was well behaved and did not present too many distractions, so I was able to focus on the music. I was seated 6 rows in front of Joe and it didn’t hurt that the 4 seats in front of me were empty for the entire show.
Perhaps the largest building to be played on the tour, the Meadowlands Arena is a cavernous concrete and steel barn. This seemed to present challenges to the PA engineers as I guess the mix had to be louder than for the other shows I have caught in smaller venues. The Piano on Sunset Grille was piercing and could have shattered glass. My ears are still ringing this morning. This was only a minor issue. Overall, the show was outstanding.
Don Henley’s insight into the evolution of Hole in the World was especially pertinent on this night. You could have seen the World Trade Center towers fall with the naked eye from the Meadowlands Arena parking on September 11, 2001. This number was extremely well performed.
Other Show favorites of mine: The Long Run, I Can’t Tell You, One of These Nights, Life’s Been Good (“I have a Limo, ride in the back, I watch the Lakers, they stink without Shaq”). Heartache Tonight and Fast Lane both convey a high level of energy that carries into the encore where Hotel California and Rocky Mountain Way are standouts.
One drag about the Meadowlands Arena is that the only access to and from the floor was from the opposite end of the rink, some 200 feet from my seat. I knew that the concourse was going to be a time consuming “cluster F#@k” during intermission so I dusted off my Hockey line change move and vaulted the boards to the right of the stage. This allowed enough time for a pit stop and brew replenishment in the lightly populated concourse behind the stage. I made it back for the second set with time to spare. This also worked for the quick out after the show. Give this move a try if you are going to any of the other two shows that are scheduled in this building.
Enjoy the shows!

Well I finally got to see the Eagles live for the first time since around 1977 or 1978 at Giants Stadium. That's way too many years in between. Show started at about 8:20 and ended at around 11:20. Three hours of perfection. They just don't make bands like that anymore! They played most of their classics along with many solo songs. I was disappointed however, that they didn't play their two new songs, No More Cloudy Days & One Day At A Time. I was really hoping to hear the new material but maybe some day they'll come out with the new album so I can hear them. Glenn and Joe did most of the talking with some funny lines from both. My favorite was Glenn when he dedicated Lyin Eyes to his ex-wife..."Plantiff" and also his intro of "Just like the National Surplus...Already Gone." The second half of the show was filed with high energy and some really outstanding guitar play by Joe and new comer Steuart Smith. They performed 4 encores so don't leave until they play Desperado! Hope everyone enjoys the up coming shows. I hope to see them again some day.
Enjoy!
