Laurie....no, they didn't play Last Worthless Evening.

Help me win (or lose) a bet: Did they play "Last Worthless Evening" on Apr. 1 at Continental arena? Thanks....

Eagles Farewell I Tour
Saturday, March 19, 2005
Dunkin Donuts Center
Providence, R.I.

“Hello, hello, hello” is how Glenn Frey greeted the audience that crammed into the intimate but dingy Dunkin Donuts center in Providence R.I. on Saturday, March 19. A typical Farewell I tour set was precisely executed. The two new songs played earlier in the tour (One Day at a Time & No More Cloudy Days) were not in the set.

Here are my random observations from the show:

Glenn Frey strolled out on to stage wearing what appeared to be a silver gray suite reminiscent of the baby blue apparel he wore during the summer of 2003. GF’s comical dance during “All She Wants to Do” was classic. He also joked how the “ongoing saga of Farewell I would go on until the Reincarnation Tour”. On this night, Glenn’s performance was AAA+

My vantage point was from the right side of the stage about 10 rows back I brought along my Canon image stabilization binoculars which enhanced viewing beyond belief. One detail of mention was tiny flashing light strapped to JW’s microphone. This light flashed from green to red and appeared to be some type of metronome timing light. Does anyone have the scoop on this device?

Don Henley’s vocal on “Wasted Time” started out somewhat tattered however he recovered nicely and got stronger as the night went on. I’ll bet he was looking forward to the short mid tour break that began after the show to rest the pipes.

TBS was as steady as usual. He politely takes the time to welcome those seated to the sides and rear of the stage prior to “Love Will Keep Us Alive”

Joe Walsh was a riot on “Life’s Been Good”. He commented on how the Helmet cam was to be used in judging “the who the biggest nose contest, you or me?” which he stated “he usually wins”. Revised lyrics included something like “I have a limo, ride in the back, I watch the Lakers, they stink without Shaq”

Steuart Smith was just awesome. Another note for note perfect performance.

New England natives Scott Crago and Greg Smith received a warm welcomes from the audience.

The band motorcade included 2 Suburban, an Escalade and a high top Ford van, all in gloss black.

I found the small city of Providence to be a gem. I had a great pre show dinner at the Capitol Grille took in the concert and downed post show brew at the Union Station Brewery, all just a short walk from the Westin Providence.

Next Stop:

East Rutherford, NJ, March 31 & April 1.

Some Tech Stuff:

I got a fairly good at JW’s effects rig with the binoculars. His two tiered effects rig is configured something like this:

Bottom Tier: Wha Wha into Boss PSM-5 master switch into delay into Boss Turbo Overdrive into Boss PS-3 Phase shifter/delay into Boss chorus into Boss flanger.

Top tier: Boss line selector, Boss Twin OD and Boss delay.

2 rack spaces on floorboard: Korg rack tuner (with mute pedal) and Nady wireless radio receiver.

Also in front, a Heil Talkbox into a Rowland Cube 60 Amp.

I was at the Eagles concert in Providence on March 19th at the Dunk. What a GREAT concert. My 26 year old son along with his two friends and I had a wonderful time. Hotel California never sounded so good. It's one of my favorites. When I closed my eyes, it took me back 30+ years. It was AWESOME!! They came out around 8:10 PM and took a short break but when they came back, they played until 11:15 PM. 3 hours of solid EAGLES. I would go and see them again if I could.

My wife and I also got the 5 star package. We thought it was well worth the money. We had second row center seats also. We were right in front of the center stage microphone. We won a t-shirt and denim jacket at the pre-concert party. I thought the food was very good. Much better than I expected. The people from Iloveallaccess were very nice and attentive to us.The concert was great, although I think they should drop "You Belong to the City" -- Glen's vocal is too soft during this song-- it was the same on the tour they did about 2 years ago in the northeast. Other than that they sounded great. Glen's voice was great on all the other songs, as was Don's. They did not play "One Day at a Time" and one of the new songs ( I don't recall the name-- they did play "Hole in the World") The crowd was really into it. Joe Walsh was great as always. I thought Steuart Smith also did well on the guitar solos. I got a guitar pick from Timothy at the end. Great to hear one of the young guys got Don's drumstick- the boys seemed to really enjoy themselves We are going to one of the Jersey shows, although we will not be doing any packages. I would definitely get the VIP package for other artists I like, if/when they are offered.

My husband and I were at the concert on Saturday, and I am still singing the songs. This was, without a doubt, the best concert I have ever attended. I love The Eagles, and have forever. They were better than ever. I hope to see them in concert again.

I though the mix was perfect. As I mentioned before I purchased 5 star for my family. The people were great, we were give 2nd row center. My two kids (13 & 15) are still playing Eagles tune and humming a variety of the songs that were played. I'd like to thank the lady in the 1st row in front of us for fighting off the fan that was trying to grab one of Don Henley's drumsticks from her. She was successful and then handed one to my 13 year old and said "Don Henley told me to give one to the boy in the 2nd row" he then waved his ok our way. Pretty cool for an introduction to a class act.

Well I enjoyed the show in Providence, but I must say that i thought they were better last summer at the Fleet Center.
I LOVE the Eagles and was soo excited to see them again - I got a last minute ticket from a friend and was about 25th row on the floor.
My only complaint was that they played too many solo (non-Eagle) tunes.
I have seen them all play solo gigs, and expect them to play their solo stuff then, but i cam to see the EAGLES and expected to hear EAGLES songs. We heard 4 Henley tunes (Boys of Summer, Sunset grille, All She wants to do is Dance) 4 Walsh / James Gang Songs (Lifes Been Good, Walk Away, Funk #49 and Rocky Mountain Way) and 1 Frey song (You Belong to the City)
What was missing was - Peacful Easy Feeling, Best of My Love, Pretty Maids All in a Row, The Long Run, Saturday Night, Ol '55, etc - there are many many more I could name but how about the absolute PERFECT song to get the crowd going in Providence "The Last Resort"

Hello!!! - She came from Providence - down in Rhode Island - I was sure we would have heard that one.

SET LIST? PLEASE???

As soon as I heard the Eagles were coming to Providence, I went on-line to get the tickets. I have loved the Eagles from the beginning. The concert was awesome, they sound better than ever. I have been to many concerts and shows in my life, but this was THE BEST ONE I EVER SAW. My friend went in Jacksonville and loved it too. It really comes through that they love their audience and are appreciative of us. It was the longest concert I ever saw and they did the most encores. The only thing I missed was "The Best of My Love." However, I am sure they have to alternate songs to keep it fresh. Other than that, they sang all the old favorites. I loved it! I envy you folks who are still going as the tour continues! If you don't have it yet, run out and get the Greatest Hits album, a double CD.

Anyone have the set list??? PLEASE email it to me!

Wow... the Providence show was awesome!!! Saw them in 96.. they're better than ever!! They're the best!!

On the way to the concert i got a speeding ticket and got lost but it was worth it was great as always i love the eagles can't wait till madison square garden

Hey, i went to the show last night, it was awesome!! I waited outside the buses for like 2 hours and finally they came out and Glenn, Tim, and Joe came over and talked to us, and let us hang out for a little before the show, it was the best time of my life, The concert was awesome too!! I had section 121, 4th row, we were like right next to them, it was mint.

I went to Providence ("The one in Rhode Island") to the second of the four Farwewell I shows I will take in on the current tour. Only major diffenerce from the last show I attended (Atlanta) was a shorter set list. One Day at a Time and No More Cloudy Days were not in the set. Getting ready to check out of the Westin, Providence. More details to follow later today.

On the floor tonite at the big cup of coffee with the Mrs. I was like a teenage girl at a Beatles concert last time for HFO tour in 94 at Great Woods/Tweeter Center.

I have to rank the HFO show right there with Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon show at Boston Garden in 1975 as shows 1 and 1A and I have seen everyone worth seeing.

Can't wait.

Just one more day to go,, going to see the Eagles on Saturday in Providence,, can;t wait.I saw them in 96 they were awesome!! They're the best, you can keep the Rolling Stones and the Beatles,,no comparison!!!

I am so so thrilled to be going to Eagles concert March 19th in here Providence at the Dunk. I have enjoyed their music since the beginning. Yahoo! Can't wait. Best part about this is that my 26 year old son and his friends like them as much as I do. We'll be celebrating his 26th birthday in style. Happy Birthday John!
EAGLES ARE THE BEST!!!

I also have 5 Star and will be taking my wife and two kids 13 & 15 to their first Eagles concert. I saw them in '77 during the Hotel California tour. I've never used the "All Access 5 Star" hope it works out.

My wife and I are doing the 5 star package. We saw the Eagles in the 5th row in New Hampshire last tour about a year and a half ago. They sounded great! I also saw The Long Run tour in Boston way back in the day. We are driving up from NYC Saturday morning and staying til Monday. Hopefully we'll have decent weather. Really looking forward to the show; it seems like a long time ago when we got the package. Also going to New Jersey to see them. Anyone going to Jersey too? Hope everyone has a great time.

Going to see the Eagles concert in Providence - looking very much forward to it. Travelling to the States from Iceland next Friday and will drive down from Boston Saturday morning.
See you there,
Elly

Looking forward to meeting other people from here at Providence...I'm 4-star because the concert was practically sold out except for nosebleeds. Anyone else going VIP for this one?
