In 2003 my dad and I attended FW 1 in Ottawa and Toronto back to back... fantastic. My fionce' and I have tickets 19 rows behind the stage at the Air Canada Centre at the end of March. Is there anybody out there who knows how these guys perform to rearstage patrons... and who knows what the sitelines are like with equipment... etc... I am always a little nervous getting rearstage tickets for this reason... but for the Eagles I would sit in the rafters... can anybody comment... thanks

I had the pleasure of attending via the 5 Star Pkg. I had a great time!, there were approximately 70 or a little more who participated in the VIP pkg. We were assorted to the backstage area for dinner at 6pm. The dinner was great, they had raffle giveaways for shirts and hats, and gave away a autographed program and at the end of the night a new boxset. Unfortunately i didn't win anything, however, a gracious fan at my table gave me a t-shirt after she had won one, (thanks so much!). Anyway at about 7:50 we were all asscorted to our seats, mine were 4th row, 4th seat,on Joe's side of the stage. It was a wonderful concert as usual, and they just keep getting better and better all the time! Don is my fav and he of course sang beautifully! I think that my favorite part of the concert is when they play HC and TITTL you hear 17,000 people singing along with such passion it just feels wonderful! The Eagles are truly the Very Best!!!

What an incredible show!!!! Been an Eagles fan for more years than I care to admit but they have not let me down yet. We went to the show in Greensboro in 2003 and was hoping to get another chance. I wasn't fortunate to get tickets from Ticketmaster, I had to bid on some on e-bay. I got the bid at $300 for 2 in section 102 row A seats 5 & 6 and they were awsome. We did have a little trouble getting to the show, our daughter lives in Raleigh so we went to her house and she drove us over, it normally would take 15 minutes to get there but with all the traffic at 7:50 we were still a long ways away, we could see the RBC center thru the woods. So my husband of 27 years says if we're going to see the show we better hike thru the woods, we did just to come upon a 6 foot fence with a row of barbed wire on top! There was nothing to do but climb over, I just knew as I came down the other side the police would be there to cart us off to jail. But to my surprise they weren't and we got in just in time to get seated for a wonderful show.

I've been to litterally hundreds of concerts & shows through the years.(Have ticket stubs to prove it!!!) The wife & I decided on the way home Friday night that this was the best show we have ever seen. All this time I never thought anything would rival George Harrison, Billy Preston, & Ravi Shankar at the Omni In Atlanta in 1974. I saw the EAGLES in the 70's & again for "The Long Run". Missed HFO. I saw the JAMES GANG during their hayday several times. I guess it's the technology & the fact that we have mellowed, but this show was everything you could ask for. The band is so tight. The vocals were understandable & we didn't leave with a headache. Just when we thought we had heard it all---out came another hit. The wife was a little disappointed to not hear "Witchy Woman" but she'll get over it. Joe & the helmet cam was cool during "Life's Been Good". Don's vocals throughout the set would give you chill streaks. The horn section, Timothy, & Steuart---sweeeet!!! But to see Glenn boogie during "All She Want's To Do Is Dance", that was classic. Everybody have fun. If you get a chance to see the show----GO!!------you'll never regret it.

Anyone have the playlist from the Raleigh RBC 3/11/05 show?
Posted by:MAC | March 13, 2005 at 08:03 AM
He did not do End of the Innocence.
Posted by:Vicki | March 13, 2005 at 07:08 AM
Can anyone verify that Henley did End of the Innocence? I arrived late, at the start of Boys of Summer, and so it would've been early on in the concert.

I paid $200 dollars for my dad and I to sit BEHIND the stage.....IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! Aside from the "volunteer firemen with flasHlights" telling me that I couldn't stand up to dance for Joe Walsh, I couldn't have asked for better. I would do it again every night if I could. Just one classic after the other....each one so different and yet all of them perfect. The sound of the Eagles will live forever.

Hi everyone. God help me, I can't say enough about the show last night. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I cried off and on through the whole damn thing. LOL Tears of joy. My first time seeing them, having wanted this for so very long and everytime one of my favorite songs started I'd burst into tears again. lol The band was in fine form. They wore exactly what was described in the Atlanta show, although the set list was somewhat different. I thought all the boys sounded just fine. When there was a moment of weakness in one of their voices I took into account that they had just put on a hell of a show in Atlanta the night before. Weak voices were few and far between as they all seemed to be belting out their tunes just GREAT!!!! They looked awesome and they were ALL gracious and courteous to the audience. As previous reported by someone else that went to another show, Don did NOT expect applause and cheers after every three words he sang. He was very gracious and seemed to appreciate the audience. Glenn was of course just a character. LOL And YES he did the plantiff joke and we all loved it. Do it all you want Glenn! Timothy and Joe were at the top of their game and sounded wonderful!!! This was the most awesome show I've ever been too and at the end they did 3 or 4 encores. How wonderful of them. Knowing they had to be worn out but they kept coming and never let it slow them down. If I had one complaint it would be that some of the songs I had hoped to hear weren't done, but even that is not a complaint, for they put on such a great, awesome show, how could anyone complain. Hey, they can't do ALL of the songs. Lol. Anyway, I could go on and on and on and on about how awesome and great it was, but that would take forever. This concert had a special meaning to me I must say. Not only was it my first Eagles concert, which was very emotional for me. It was also the anniversary of the death of a very very special person in my life. And I was right where he would have wanted me to be. I was happy and joyous and having the time of my life and I know he was looking down on me and cheering me on. I only wish I had a way of contacting the boys and letting them know just how very special last night was to me and what a memory and mark it has and will always leave on my life. EAGLES ROCK!!!

Simply excellent! Their vocals were all dead on the money! What was really great was all the songs that Don Henley and Joe Walsh have done as solos were also covered. Henleys end of the innocence, dirty laundry and Joe Walshes Rocky Mountain Way, Lifes been good and as far back as James Gang Funk #49 with a boogie horn section to boot (they really got down on funk #49)!
It was worth every bit of $115 for each of my and my wifes ticket. She is from korea and knows all their songs and she just loved it loved it. With her accent it's Take it jeesy! If they come again we will take it jeesy again!!!

Incredible concert. I am 41 and this was the best concert I have ever seen, even better than Springsteen.

First of all, let me state that of the four Eagles shows I have attended, this was an extra special concert for me, as the home arena is where my alma mater, NC State, plays basketball. Having the Eagles there Friday night made it seem they were truly on "home turf." When they began Boys of Summer, I eerily remembered purchasing Henley's Building the Perfect Beast (vinyl!) at a record store across from campus on the rainy December day it went on sale 20 years ago.
Glenn demonstrated his reputation as the biggest sports fan of the group and that he was conscious of his surroundings and the persuasion of the crowd when he announced the final score of the NC State-Wake ACC tournament game (to a thunderous ovation) near the beginning of the second set.
Don made a remark alluding to the Andy Griffith Show, asking "how far is it to Mt. Pilot?" He went on to say it was still his favorite TV show. Not sure it would have anything to do with that choice, but he has cited the Dillards (who played the Darling boys on the show) as a prime favorite of his.
Now, to the show itself: very high quality. The overall quality seemed to be superior to the 2003 tour, although I liked the 2003 setlist better. (included Turn to Stone, etc.). I cannot remember Glenn Frey ever sounding better since they reunited. He definitely looks to be the Eagle taking the best care of himself.
The two new songs (as yet unreleased) were NOT played at this show and it makes one wonder what criteria are being used to determine when they perform those. I wonder if it has to do with the start times; they started 15 minutes late last night and may have wanted to cut the show down in length. It will be interesting to observe the pattern of when they perform these and when they do not.
I did notice they have eliminated the key change within Already Gone and I didn't notice that in 2003. This is probably a good development as I never remember it coming off quite right in any show I've seen.
Now, to individual performances: Tim was dependable Tim. I've spoken of Glenn and his performance; he also has picked up some lead guitar parts that I didn't notice two years ago. Glenn, Steuart, and Joe all trade leads at the end of Dirty Laundry--nicely done.
Joe is finding the high notes harder to hit vocally but he still didn't crack any. And his playing, as usual, was phenomenal. In my opinion, there is no justice in Joe's omission from the Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists list. His lead on You Belong in the City was a keeper.
Don seems to have changed the most from two years ago. He's picked up some weight. His characteristic raspiness bordered on hoarseness Friday night. It was evident he was having to put in a great deal of effort to belt out Wasted Time and Desperado--but he did and the crowd was very appreciative of his performance. In fact, despite the labored vocals, I thought this was the best Wasted Time he's ever done.
Steuart Smith did a fine job as usual. A personal note: I wish people would get off his case. Unless you are a walking guitar almanac like Joe Walsh, it is very unreasonable to expect another guitarist to step into the shoes of Don Felder with no differences. I think it's a credit to the guy that he is able to come so close to those tried-and-true Eagles solos. If you didn't devise them, it's hard to copy them exactly. It's not like playing a piano.
(OK, off of soapbox)
Overall, money well spent and a great night at the RBC. I think I have begun to realize that the guys can't do this forever, but to do the job they do, night in and night out, at this stage of their lives and careers is nothing short of amazing.

I've seen countless Eagles shows over the past 30 years, but this one was incredible. Of course, the songs were the same, but there was a lot of energy and interaction with the crowd. Some 17,000 people roared with appreciation for what this band has accomplished over the years as well as their individual works. I've seen one other concert at the RBC (Springsteen) and this by far was better and louder. The fans were in it from the beginning and stayed in it throughout. Four rows from the front and would gladly pay more if needed. Undoubtedly the best band in the world as far as vocals and musicians combined. No one can sing and hamonize like The Eagles. Henley did a little talking, but his singing is what we paid to hear and we heard a man who can still get the job done. I was impressed with Frey's voice as two years ago in Greensboro he was lackluster at best. Joe sounded better and played his heart out. Timothy was in front of us the whole night and really connected with the audience. Of course, his singing speaks for itself. Overall, a fantastic show and I believe the boys were a bit overcome by the 17,000 people and cheers. Oh yea, I would've liked to hear the two new songs, but I'm not complaining. Hope they Take It To The Limit one more time before saying farewell forever.

John--
I hate to quibble, but they did do Heart of the Matter during the HFO tour and they did New York Minute when they played NYC in 1994. If you really want to hear those songs, go to a Henley solo show. :)

I dont gOOd solid show tonight in Raleigh, Don's voice is sounding a bit strained, but when it was his time to shine he came through, Joe was engaged the whole show, came up with a killer ending solo to LITFL, other than that, the standard show in front of a sold out house, a few new back screen presentations, Don asked the crowd during a pause "where is mount pilot?" and re=iterated that Andy Griffith was still his favorite tv show, although I dont recall Floyd the barber doing any quaaludes.

Disappointed that setlist was pretty much the same as it was for the Greensboro show back in 2003 (also part of the Farewell I Tour). Of course, you can't expect Henley to play anything other than his bigger hits, but what about New York Minute and Heart of the Matter? Both were on the Hell Freezes Ove CD but neither has been part of an Eagles tour setlist. Sigh, still, the concert was great, but I for one would like the Eagles to do a "B-Side Tour" and start playing such great tunes as Ol 55, Doulin Dalton, and of course, Seven Bridges Road (BTW, I was a few rows behind the sigh someone made with the title of that song, no doubt hoping it'd be played by the band--it wasn't).

I'll be attending the show in the club seats in the mezzanine. This will be my fourth Eagles concert since the Grand Resumption and, as usual, can't wait.
