I agree with most of what has already been written about the Eagles show at Air Canada Centre on March 29. The band sounded great, just as they did the last time they played Toronto back in October of 2003. My only complaint is that the set list, song for song, was 100% identical to the set list from the October 2003 show. This was a bit of a bummer. I was hoping for a little variety, in the form of 1 or maybe 2 new songs. But, I'll be the first to admit that I, like many of the other fans in attendance, was there mainly to hear the classic Eagles tunes. So from this point of view, the band delivered the goods 100%. My only other minor beef with the set list is that in my humble opinion, it includes a few too many solo tunes. No disrespect is intended to fans of Don, Glenn and Joe's solo work, but when they come together to tour as the Eagles, the set list should reflect this in every way possible. Instead of hearing all of the solo tunes that each respective Eagle can perform on his own, in the context of a solo tour, I would much rather have heard some rare Eagles tune that doesn't usually get performed, or one of their other classics that was dropped from the current tour's set list, like "The Last Resort" for example. I just feel strongly that instead of including so many solo tunes, that the audience could have been treated to better Eagles songs that were written by Don and Glenn together. But all in all, the Eagles did a fabulous job at Air Canada Centre on March 29.

I was in the 9th row on the aforementioned left side and I must agree with lastnicegirl about the lack of enthusiasm from the crowd. Apparently people didn't realize they could take their butts off the seats. Not even a lonnnnng explanation from Joe before he put the helmet cam on made many of them get up. Security was tight where we were, as well, but moreso about people stepping out into the aisle. We sat for much more of the show than we would have liked, but were never asked to sit down by security or those sitting behind us.
Overall, a great show. I was disappointed that no picks were thrown at the end and I wondered if this was thanks to the overwhelming "politeness" of much of the crowd.

to all that bitch and complain regarding having to sit down should sit in a wheelchair at a show and see what it's like... having some little tart that was still shitting yellow when the band was in their hayday up dancing infront of you... it's not very nice at all

As far as the limited people dancing, anytime I've had floor seats to the band security has made everyone sit. This goes back to HFO as well and is not limited to Toronto. When I caught HFO in Orlando (the citrus bowl) I was in row twelve and was made to sit down. At HFO in TO at the EX I was in row 50 and was made to sit down. From what I've gathered security is going with the advice that people paid a lot for the seats and have the right to see the show. I don't agree with it but I've learned to accept it.

I don't know so much if the crowd was tough lastnicegirl as much as the security were being a bit authoritarian. I was in the third row and yeah there looked to be some technical issues on stage, but as far as I could tell the security told some people in the first rows who tried to stand up to sit down! Loved the show regardless, thought there was much more interaction between the band members this time then the last in Toronto Oct 2003.

Re: Toronto
Out of the 9 times I've seen the band (and 2 Henley solo shows) they did alright at the Toronto gig but it was not their best performace. (A few people from work atteded the Montreal gig the evening prior and the write-up suggested technical issues.)
The Toronto show got underway late - around 8:20, and as previously mentioned in another posting, they dropped a few tunes from the set (disappointingly).
From what I understand there was some technical trouble at the outset of the show. The band clearly looked frustrated and were looking to the drummer for cues. It appeared that they couldn't hear themselves up there. (We were on the floor about 10 rows from the stage and could see all the expressions.)
It also appeared that Don and Glenn were not warmed up for the first few tunes - though it could have been techincal as well, I suppose. Don seemed to be straining to hit a few high notes and Glenn seemed to fade-off on a few -- Timothy picked up for Glenn a couple of times, and did a lot of pick-up work on You Belong To The City.
Basically for the first set, Timothy and Joe picked up where necessary carried the gig. The band also played with very little energy and "feeling". Not themselves at all.
All of that being said, if it was your first time seeing the show, the band, being the consumate professionals they are, held their own and came of seemingly flawless through all the tech issues - they just were not 100% on.
After a quick intermission the band was back -- and everyone was completely on the money! (Presuming the tech crew got a good talking to during the break?!LOL!)
The lads played with a TON of energy, and really appeared to be having fun with the crowd and each other. (Don is still an awesome story-teller and Glenn is hilarious!)
Joe, as usual, rocked the crowed with Walk Away and Rocky Mountain Way. Timothy was bang-on with his "sappy love song" (as he put it) Love Will Keep Us Alive and the band were solid with Hole In The World.
The crowd was tough. Not may up dancing for a good part of the show. A handful of fans to the left of the stage were on thier feet for most of the show, and the band made the effort to play to them. The rest of the crowd got off thier butts for the last few tunes, and of course, the encores.
Note to those who "sit-and-enjoy-the-show": Please refrain from rude remarks to those up dancing -- there IS a big screen located just above the stage for your viewing enjoyment. If you want to sit and listen to the Eagles, buy the DVD and stay in your living room. Morons!
The lads are looking good -- they are aging well. Both Glenn and Joe have lost a few pounds and are back down to thier "huntin' weight" -- Don however has clearly been packing away the groceries lately!
Stuart and Scott did a phenomial job and the horn section are flawless!
All and all, not a bad show. It would have been nice to hear a couple of new tunes, but frankly, the crowd were not encouraging. Hopefully the band can work out their tech issues in the near future and get back to their A-game shortly.
See you at Farewell II!

Totally Awsome show. I have been an Eagles fan since 72 and this is the first time I have been to see them live. I was not disappointed. Joe Walsh and his antics, Glenn Frey and his one liners, Timothy Schmit and I Can't Tell You Why and then Don Henley with Desperado, just UNFORGETTABLE.

Above is a link to an online review.
I got back in from T.O. The show was awesome. Glenn was great and so was Joe. Don seemed tired on the singing but his drumming was on the money. The band seemed to have a lot of fun and the second half they seemed to jam more than I've ever seen. Glenn seemed to be having fun with Joe and looked like he got Joe messed up a bit during a couple of songs. No new songs tonight, I wonder why they're not doing them. It was as good as the last T.O show and better than the Buffalo show from a year and a half ago. Glenn gave one new joke (which is what I always ask for). He introduced Already Gone with something like "and now for a song that reminds me of the US national surplus......Already Gone"). The band still rocks and I look forward to Farewell 1.75

Wow what a great show..They sounded and looked great...Don was great on Boys Of Summer,Hotel California and the others he sang...Joe is amazing...Before Hole In The World
Don said they released a video of it on DVD because they knew MTV wouldn tplay it because they didnt wear there underwear in the videos and they dont have nice little belly buttons..It was hilarious...And if u didnt think u got ur moneys worth by the 2nd encore..You did when Glenn belted out "Well im runnin down the road, tryin to loosen my load" what a show..Desprado was a beautiful way to end it and it was just fuckin awsome

One word, WOW! The boys were at their very best at last night's show. They were in good spirits and sounded better than ever! It was great hearing tracks like Take It To The Limit and One Of These Nights. Although Don Felder is awesome, Stewart Smith is an excellent guitar player and played perfectly.

Wow... well worth the wait ( and the coin! ) .. the one thought that kept ocurring to me was "Dayum, there's a LOT of talent on that stage."
I didn't mind some of the individual stuff, of all of the songs they chse to play, they picked some of the best... you can't deny that Joe ROCKED OUT on "Rocky Mountain Way" ... in fact his guitar solos in every somng brought down the house... happiness from the first note to the last ...
Thanks guys...

Great show at the Air Canada Centre last night! The band sounded and looked great.
It may sound nitpicky but I would have happily traded some of the solo material for some skipped over Eagles' classics like Last Resort or Witchy Woman. It may be the the last chance to see the band and it just seemed wrong to have them together and play songs that they individually could play and miss out songs that belong to the group.

once again... an absolute pleasure to watch... the band clicked as always...pardon the cliche' but 'well oiled machine' comes to mind... the band is there to play... that's it... that's all they need to do... not too many bands can pull off what the eagles do... no real fancy lights and props... just four guys... backup musicians and replacements that have obvious 'eagles pressure cooker' ability enough to put them on the stage. Like I said... they are there to play.... and play they do!

Rhonda had commented earlier about the rearstage tickets forcing the patron to look at the back of the video screens. I have tickets 19 rows back in section 112 which is at the back of stage right. I have made numerous inquiries regarding the sitelines in this and other rearstage sections... including calling Ticketmaster... calling the ACC... and researching what it was like at other venues. Upon hearing back from a ticketmaster employee... who guarenteed my ticket... they have decided to open up the back of the stage... unlike in 2003 where the rearstage was enclosed... so as it stands you will definitely see the band... it might be the back of the band... but it will be the band. I hear the sound is fantastic back there as well

I have led a sheltered life ... believe it or not, I have only been to one concert in my life ..okay, two. The Guess Who at Expo 67 when I was 19 years old ( quick do the math ! ) and The Moody Blues at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1979 ... so I'm overdue.
When I heard The Eagles were coming to town ... I had no choice. I've been a died-in-the-wool Eagles fan since they hit the music scene in 1972 ...have all their CD's ( and tapes and albums ! ) ... a constant sound on the car's stereo ..in short an Eagles JUNKIE!
Money's tight so I got the best seat I could ... you'll see me there ... a little buzzed ( or maybe a lot ? ) and singing along ... I'll be in heaven

I cant wait for this concert..I love the eagles..Ive been to so many concerts at the ACC but this is special..Its on the night of my 16th birthday (29)..Cant Wait

I attended the last Eagles Concert in Toronto, On. Canada. It was one of the best concerts I have seen since Pink Floyd in 1994 and the Rush concerts of the 1970's and 1980's. I would like to see the Eagles play two or three concerts in Toronto as I am certain that they would sell out 6 concerts in Toronto if they were to play that many shows; given a break of a few days of course. A show of three hours of course is no minor feat and the Eagles did it with relative ease. It used to be that bands playing for an hour and a half were the norm, now a show for three plus hours is the norm, especially of the super groups that are still performing today and without the need of an opening act which is also refreshing and gives newer bands some much needed exposure and experience.
I will look forward to attending this concert but am still hopeful that the band would play two shows or return for a summer concert in Toronto.
Signed, patrick
