Yesterday I bought the 5 Star VIP Ticket Package. Amazing but cool :) but if the Eagles come to Europe the last time.... who knows... I´ll be there in one of the first 10 rows. It´s very exciting! If somebody else here bought this ticket, maybe somebody from Germany or Austria, pleas write me! :)

Hello,
I was in the concert of the Eagles in Munich.
It was much better than the concert 5 years ago. And I thought this isn't possible.
The sound was great, the band was in great shape and so it was a perfect evening to listen and watch the Eagles performing.
Joe Walsh was in best form.
Don Henley performed two new songs.
Glenn Frey sang fewer songs then last time.
T.B. Schmit performed his two songs well.
Even Thomas Gottschalk, a german entertainer, was in the concert and was excited by the show.
As I've already written, the sound was good, But I must that till today thers no band which ist playing better live concerts than the Eagles.
So I hope they will come back in 5 years, so that I can hear them again.
Thank U Eagles for a great day.

Okay, here’s my review:
( I am no musician, so I cannot actually review the musical merit of the individual musicians, I am far more interested in atmosphere and emotions anyway….
We arrived at the venue at about 7.15pm. Entrance was virtually hassle-free. As customary here in Germany I stepped up to the first entrance check holding my ( open ) backpack in front of me, to have it checked. Everything I wanted to keep was “hidden” below my jacket, stuff I wouldn’t miss if they’d confiscated it lay on top to distract them. But they only asked if I’d brought a camera which I denied and without further searching me they let me enter. Don’t know why, but I get rarely checked. Must be my honest face, I guess……
( Didn’t have my camera with me anyway )
Audience was a nice mix agewise. Apart from the obvious teenagers that were being dragged along by their parents there were a lot of twenty-somethings who’d obviously come on their own. Plus a lot of people in their 50s and 60s.
Checked the merchandise booth next. Several T-Shirts for € 30,--, a light-blue “Soccer Jersey”-Style shirt for € 40,-- a hooded Sweater, Jeans-Jacket, two Girlie-Shirts ( Tank Top and Vest ) and my favourite, an Eagles bath robe
The programme was € 15,--
I got me a tan T-shirt, the design was okay and I thought it was time to add a new colour to my wardrobe.
Then it was time to go find my seat. I had a great seat, 10th row on Tim’s side of the stage with a fairly unobscured view on Don when he was at the drums.
Lights went out at 8.15 and the boys got on stage, kicking things off with “Take it easy”. A great opener in my opinion, I always like one or two a bit faster paced songs to get a show off the ground.
As far as I recall Don stayed behind the drums until “Boys of summer” the he came to the front and played the guitar.
As you can read the whole set list on the block I’ll leave it out of my review and instead give you all the bits and pieces that come to my mind.
I was amazed and blown away by the excellent sound. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like it. Almost CD quality. Halfway through the show I was actually beginning to think about the possibility of it being lip synching after all. But right then ( can’t remember the song anymore ) there was the first minor flaw. Joe’s guitar was way too loud at the beginning. I was quite glad about that, because it reassured me that they are simply very fine musicians and singers.
The crowd was “there” from the very first moment on. Cheering, clapping, whistling like a bunch of rowdy teenagers after every song.
What surprised me a bit was the reception Tim got in Munich. Seemed to me that Munich is a “Tim stronghold” For the two songs he sang he got an applause that sounded like a hurricane passing through. Well, I have nothing against Timmy he gives the impression of being a very nice and gentle person, but ( no offence) I always thought his singing is a bit boring. But, just in case there is another European Tour in the future all Timmy-Fans should make sure to come to Munich.
“Boys of summer” was the clue for lots of people storming to the front of the center aisle, dancing and partying. I didn’t mind them a bit, cause I thought it was time to get off the seats anyway. And if they obstructed my view I could always have stood on my chair.
After the break they came back to the front and one lone usher at least tried to hold them back a little. After “Tequila Sunrise” Glenn took care of the situation by very friendly and nicely asking them to “go back and find their seats”, explaining about the people up front having paid lots of Euros for an unobstructed view. He went on telling them that later in the show there would be plenty of songs for partying and dancing but for now they should please all go back and sit down. After that without any fuss all of them returned to their seats. Personally I thought that Glenn handled that very good. The only negative was that from then on nobody ever stood up again.
Several songs into the “rock set” still nobody got up again. Then Timmy gave the tiniest of hints with his hands to get us to stand up again and from then on it was party time all over.
Another strong impression was “Hole in the World”. Don started into his introduction of the song, but only said that it was written in the aftermath of 9/11, then broke mid-sentence, silent for a while and just said “will, I don’t know” Glenn then stepped in and told of a bumper sticker he’d seen a short while ago saying “ I can’t wait ‘till 2008”.
From the first second on the crowd was clapping the rhythm of the song. But in a way that I’ve never heard before. Absolutely all moving at the same time so it sounded like a gun-shot or something like that. Holding steady throughout the song without picking up speed as it usually happens. As the song went on more and more people joined in, all still in perfect unison. It was so eerie and it added another dimension to the song, so for the very first time that song totally blew me away.
Don’t know if it was after that song or another, but at one time they got an ovation so huge that Glenn had to start three times before he even could introduce the next song.
Wow, this is already far longer than I had planned, but there are so many memories coming back to me now…..
Don and Joe were both so cute, they look like they’re both on the same diet. For some reason the reminded me of bears, cute and cuddly ones, but not little ones. At the moment there’s a bit of a fuss about a big brown bear that’s running wild in Bavaria and northern Austria. The Bear has already killed over a dozen sheep and broke into a chicken shed, so hunters were given the okay to shoot him. Guess that must have sparked the Bear image in my mind and more than once I thought “ be careful, boys”…….
What I missed was Don laughing a bit more. He’s got such an infectious laugh, but for the most part he looked way to solemn.
Okay, before this gets endless I’ll stop here.
Sorry for the long post, but I got carried away……

Well, let me say something about this fantastic concert. May 25 was my birthday, so when several months ago I knew about this date, me, my wife and my friends decided to spend three days in Muenchen (I'm from northern Italy, not so far). We lodged in a Hotel near the Olympiapark, and we had the best ticket (the same raw of the above ticket, but a little more central) we could hope. The Olympiahalle was amazing, and the stage was near to our seats, we were very excited. When the show began, it was an explosion of emotions. The sound was clear, powerful and extremely rich (3 guitars, horns, 2 keyboards) and almost all the songs was amazing. Just a note, why didn't the Eagles performed Wasted Time and You Belong to the City? For me the show was nearly perfect, but with a more few moment of music like the above titles it would be definetly perfect! I can value this concert like an A-, sure that in the future it will be an A!
For the future I have a couple of ideas: more Timothy vocals, Some different songs (Doolin Dalton, The Last Resort, Saturday night, Get Over It, for example) and a supporting pedal steel guitar player (the Eagles now are a great rock group, but I miss some more country elements in their music).

The concert in Munich was OUTSTANDING. The EAGLES are an Amazing group of musicians. I will never ever forget that night. We had WONDERFUL seats in the 5th row, almost center stage, right in front of Joe Walsh! Can't get much better than that! Thomas Gottschalk sat 2 rows in front of us. Couldn't believe it when he walked in just before the lights went down. What a FANTASTIC show and band! Of course, there were some songs they didn't play,(sure they can't play em all!) but we'll wait to hear those songs another time. I would LOVE to see them again. Good old Rock n Roll....
We too are waiting for election time 2008. WE NEED A BIG CHANGE! No more WAR!

Hello again.
As additional comment I must say, that the Eagles concert in Munich was even better than the Farewell 1 DVD. Today I watched the DVD. It was perfect. I'Ve never saw such a great performance on a DVD. But, as mentioned, I must say, the the Eagles concert in Munich was almost 20% better. I think this is because of the time between the concert in 2004 in Melbourne and 2006 in Munich.
I hope it will give the Farewell II Tour or, as Gleen said, the Reincarnation Tour I.
