...however, I was chatting backstage with Michael McDonald in Toronto before a show at the now defunct Ontario Place Forum some 20 years ago. Michael told me very few people know that when he orginally came to Los Angeles from St Louis it was with the hope of joining the Eagles. He had always wanted to be a member of the band and was a huge fan of Don Henley. Oddly enough I had just seen Don in concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills the week before and suggested backstage after the show that he and McDonald should work together sometime. Don replied with very little enthusiasm, "Yeah I like some of his stuff." Try as I might it never happened that I know of.
