Your new homework assignments are posted below. Y'all did an amazing job last time. It was so interesting to read everyone's thoughts and your Acrostic poems were amazing. Let's see what you can do with this week's assignments. If you are new to Henley Homework, you may want to check the original post here to get all the details.
Pretend that you've been given the opportunity to interview Don. What 3 questions would you ask him?
A while ago, Don did a commercial for SonicNet's music me service. I don't think we still have the video (something tells me it was only online). We do, though, have stills from it. To be honest, I'm not sure what SonicNet's Music Me service was...only that it's been sucked up into VH1.
Your assignment is to take the stills from the commercial and write a new script or pitch a new concept. Be creative :)
Don did two politically themed songs at the MTV inauguration party for Bill Clinton. Watch both clips and then comment on them. Do you like it when Don gets political? What's your favorite Henley political moment? What do you like about these performances?
Y'all did so well with the Four Speeds songs last time that we thought we'd give you a taste of the Felicity. What do you think of these tracks? How are they similar to or different from Don's work with the Four Speeds? Which do you like better?
Welcome to Henley Homework. This is fun course in learning all about Don Henley. One a week, we'll post 3 or 4 homework assignments for the week. Don't worry, though, the assignments won't be hard. They will involve listening, watching or reading something about Don. Sometimes we'll ask you to get creative as well. The point of this is to build community as we read each other's comments and have an ongoing conversation about Mr. Henley. You can respond at any time and you can also do homework from previous weeks. There are no grades and no right or wrong answers. If you are a regular contributer to Henley Homework, though, we will add your name to the Honor Roll :) This first week there are 3 homework assignments so scroll below to get to work. We look forward to your comments and responses. Oh yeah, spit out that gum!
Your writing task this week is to write an acrostic poem about Don. When you write an acrostic, you use the first letter in someone's name to inspire a word or phrase about that person. So, for example, if I were writing one about my dog Ike, I could use simple words:
I - Intelligent
K- Kindhearted
E- Easygoing
I could also use phrases to write one about my dog Amos:
A- Always eating everything in sight
M- Meal times mean nothing to you
O- Obese is what the vet says you are
S- Still, you are a very cute dog
Get it? Now it's your turn to write one about Don :) You can be serious, funny or whatever you want. Feel free to use his first name, last name or both. Post your poems in the comments section or email them to us.
Your audio homework this week is to listen to Don's work with the Four Speeds and to tell us which track is your favorite. Remember to tell why you like the track you do! You may choose from the following:
Bedrock (I fixed the link of this. It should work fine now)
Your video homework this week is to watch the Garden of Allah video and tell us what you think. Do you like it? Hate it? Do you understand it? What's your favorite part of it? Is this classic Henley or just plain weird? Post your comments below.
