("So You Wanna... was NOT played)
To begin with, what a terrific concert, nearly three hours of great music. Julianna Raye opened at 7:40 pm with a short set of only 15 minutes. There was a good turnout for the show, I'd say around 9-10,000 people filling 2/3 of the venue. Henley came on stage just after 8 pm with the funky "The Genie" which featured some extended soloing at the end. The band went right into "Witchy Woman" and the crowd was on their feet. After the song Don motioned for someone backstage to get his coat as it was a very cool night. He said "We started off with a customary obscure album track, then Witchy Woman, and now another song you havent heard in a while," before staring "I Put A Spell." Later he thanked the crowd for coming out, "I know you had a choice, but we'll keep you up to date on the score", referring to the Detroit Pistons NBA finals game, which actually isnt until tomorrow, and Don corrected himself later in the set.
The crowd went nuts for "HC" with Stevie, although I can't get used to anyone else singing that song. She has a very distinctive voice, but I think her contribution to Henley's set was more out of novelty than anything else. Whereas I think Don really helped fill out the vocals for her songs.
Something very odd happened when Stevie took the stage for her set. She was in front of her mic shaking hands before "Outside the Rain" when either she lost her balance or an over zealous fan pulled her arm too hard. She nearly fell into the first row but gained her balance and seemed to say something to the fan. Stevie's set was hit or miss, she nailed the Fleetwood Mac songs, but tepid ballads like "Beauty and the Beast" slowed down the whole show. Also, when I go to a Henley / Nicks concert, the last thing I want to hear are extended drum solos, which were present in a number of her songs so she could change her outfits. I would think with time being a factor she could just wear the same clothes for a few songs instead of dragging the songs out and wasting precious time. This is why "So you wanna..." was not played. DTE has a strict concert cut off at 11:00 pm, and "Leather and Lace" ended at 11:02. If "Edge of 17" had not been nearly 20 minutes long (no exaggeration at all) they easily could have played it.
Overall a great night of essentially 4 shows in one though, you can't beat three hours of music for 100 bucks.
DTE (Pine Knob)Clarkston, MI
Awsome Concert, lot of chemistry between Don & Stevie. They even slow danced a little. From Desperado to Leather and Lace it was 3 hours of fun, everyone was on their feet for 3/4 of the show. Great bands to accomadate Don/Stevie's voices.
I think the first reviewer said it all. I had 3rd row seats so I paid a little more than 100 bucks. I did have a good vanatage point for that Stevie incident at the beginning. It looked to me like the fan fainted while shaking Stevie's hand. Hilarious.
I have to say that the duet on Golddust Woman and EOI accoustic were the highlights for me.
The 2 have such different styles. DH is all business and Stevie is all drama. She sounded great on Edge though...better than the album cut.
June 18th show at DTE in Clarkston was wonderful. We did the iloveallaccess 5 star package and had front row/center seats (our entertainment budget for the year). Their guides are great! Really made it a special night. Steve Crago came in during our dinner/party and that was a special treat for me as I am a BIG fan of his. He signed the drum sticks I won in the raffle and even allowed me a hug. Great guy - super drummer. Really looking forward to the posting of the photos they took. Don Henley was, in my opinion, perfection. I especially enjoyed "I put a spell on you" and wish he would do an album of old blues songs. His voice is perfect for those tunes. Stevie was great too, but she spent too much time back stage with her wardrobe changes. If she wouldn't have done that, she would have had time to sing Gypsy, Landslide just to name a few. I thought she was very gracious to span the whole front row and shake our hands though. The songs they sang together were a real treat, especially Gold Dust Woman. They appeared to be having a very good time up there (the slow dance was so cute). I am glad a previous post listed the songs because I wouldn't even attempt to remember. It looked accurate to me though. Hope I can settle down now and get back to work. Charleen
Just got Home From the show in Arizona which was promised to be an excelent. However much to my surprise Don Henley, the man a lot of people went to see DID NOT play any songs on his own at all. He joined Nicks on stage for 4 songs, however with muffeled sound. Spending so much money just to hear Nicks sing was very disheartning,... does anybody know why this occured???
Can't wait for the show! Anyone else going?

David, it occured because Don Henley had a bad voice or something.
