Question of the Day: How do you Like Your Eagles?
What is your preferred method of seeing the Eagles? Granted, we'd all probably want an intimate show in our garages and rec rooms, but other than that....how do you like your shows? The vibe and energy of a stadium? The acoustics of a small theater? What about something in the middle like a basketball arena? Do you like your shows inside or outside? Do you like your crowds rowdy or tame? You can discuss all of this over on Eagleland.

Assuming that size does matter......I go for acoustics, acoustics, acoustics! Most basketball arenas have way too much echo unless they are packed with people. Large stadiums and outdoor venues take massive amounts of power to reach the back with any low end frequencies. I saw them in 03' in El Paso and they only used approximately 2/3 of the basketball arena. We were on the 3rd row of the floor and the front/center fill speakers sounded awesome. The Eagles aren't going to hire anyone but the best as sound engineers!

You could go both ways with that. If you want to see a show to absolute perfection or an unplugged show you would probably want to see them in a small venue like a theater or studio. If you want more of an energetic show for dancing and partying then a large arena or stadium size would be good for that. I seen the eagles at the Palace of Auburn Hills back in 2003 a middle size arena and that was a great show. So size in my opinion varies.

Without question, the best forum for an Eagles concert is in a smaller venue before an audience that is tame. I have been to many an arena show, stadium gigs such as Yale Bowl in 1980, Giants Stadium in 80 & 94, and Invesco Field in 2001. Without question, the best Eagles show that I have seen where both of these preferences were evident was in the relatively small Mohegan Sun Casino Arena in Uncasville, CT in July of 2003. This small venue seemed to energize the players and the sound in the hall was terrific. By and large, the audience behaved maturely as they respected the bands performance with a high level of silence during the songs. The tame audience on that night was an overdue treat as you could actually hear the band play and sing, something they work very hard at in an effort to achieve perfection for their audience. Nothing is more annoying than to pay top dollar for a ticket in an attempt to hear and view one of the greatest live acts ever, only to have the experience diminished by the immature and inconsiderate who choose to yap, dance and scream through the entire concert.
