This is the time of year when various radio stations and publications come up with their lists of the best songs of all time. If you hear of one of these lists, please post the Eagles songs that made it in the comments section of this post. I bet we can collect quite a few.
Gosh, if you don't post for a couple of days, everything scrolls off the screen. Sorry for that. We're back home now and after things get unpacked, we'll start unpacking some updates.
We hope that everyone has a safe and happy New Year. Our thoughts are with our friends in South-East Asia. Please check in if you can. If you're able to, we encourage you to check out some charities who are helping out with this horrible disaster.
We will be deleting all of the old mailing lists in a few hours. If you haven't yet subscribed to the new one, please put your email address in the box over there on the right. We can't wait to see you there. Already, the new list has had more posts than the old one did in the last few months. Let's keep it up!
We told you that we had been working on some stuff behind the scenes. We're ready to go live with one of them. We've always struggled with the fact that we aren't good biography writers. We don't have a lot of actual historical / biographical stuff on the site because of that.
We final have come up with what we hope will be a solution. The Eaglepedia!
Now...a bit of background: Some of you may be familiar with the Wikipedia. The Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia built by site visitors. We're hoping the Eaglepedia will follow suit.
We're using Wiki technology. That may sound complicated...but it really isn't. We've started the Eaglepedia off with a brief bio of the band. As you read it, you'll notice that YOU can edit the pages. That's right. We're hoping that the information will be compiled by site visitors. Using the wiki technology is quite easy. If you can use a word processor...you can use a Wiki. Please head over to the Eaglepedia and poke around. Read the How to Help section and try adding some information. We think this can be really cool. There are SO MANY Eagles experts out there. It would be great to have a record of the combined knowledge.
On December 15th, we will be shutting down all of the existing mailing lists and groups we currently manage:
Topica mailing list
Eaglesfastlane Yahoo Group
Joewalshistheman Yahoo Group
Donhenleyfanclub Yahoo Group
The Eagles mailing list is a long-standing community, so we encourage you to join the new list. To do so, just type your email address in the box over on the right. Signing up is easy. The new service we're using has a lot of bells and whistles, so please feel free to use them. People have been posting their bios and Eagles history. It's been really fun and interesting so far, so please join us.
Well, this leg of Farewell I is now over. From all accounts on the TourBlog, the Asian/Australian leg was a complete success. We've added a few new reviews for your viewing pleasure. Thanks to all who made those of us who were unable to attend some shows able to be there with you in spirit!
As for the Spring leg of Farewell I, dates still seem to be in flux. New ones are added and old ones are taken away. We advise everyone to just be patient. We'll update the new TourBlog when things settle down a bit.
