FAQ Updated

I just went through and updated the FAQ. The questions are all answered. If you have another questions, just submit it.

What's in the Box II

It's time for another round of "What's in the Box" where we'll start scanning stuff from one of our many boxes full of "stuff". Keep watching this space to see what we find.

1.  This is an ad for the show that started it all for us.

2.  From Random Notes in Rolling Stone (1977). The challenge to the infamous softball game.

3.  This is a pretty ad for the Very Best of the Eagles.

4.  A clipping from Q Magazine about the Take it Easy video shoot.

5.  A nice ad Joe did for Carvin's Vintage amp series.

6.  A review of Actual Miles vith a very nice photo.

7.  This Glenn clipping is in German, but it's a nice photo.

8.  Again, this clipping is in German, but it features a nice photo of Felder and Walsh.

9.  This is a nice 2 page spread from a Japanese magazine. Great photo of the band playing Madison Square Garden.

That looks like it will be it for today. If you guys like this, we'll keep on doing, "What's in the Box".

Site Updates

When we last tried to update the trading community, we wrecked the files. We've rebuilt them and the trading community is back up online.

We may have some time to do another "What's in the Box" segment tomorrow, so stay tuned!

2005 Tour!!!

It hit us that the tour is starting in about a week and a half. We just wanted to remind all of you that we need your help in covering this tour. Please check the newspapers in if your town is having a show for previews and reviews. If you attend a show, please either send us your review or post it on the TourBlog.

We also encourage you to post in the TourBlog. We know a bunch of people want to get together in Reading and as soon as we finish typing this, we'll go post over there. Let's make this a great tour. Thanks in advance for making sure all Eagles fans can attend this show vicariously through those actually going to the dates.

One Last Thing

What with the flu and the car accident we forgot to mention this little snippit from Billboard that came in the Google news alert a few days ago. Don will appear on Jerry Lee Lewis' new studio album due out in May or June of this year.

Today: What's in the Box?

Since there hasn't really been anything to update lately, we thought we'd do something kind of fun today. I got out one of the several boxes of loose Eagles' stuff we've got sitting around here. I'm just going to start at the top of the box and work down until I get tired. Check this space to see what neat goodies we've found!

1.  Review of Eagles concert at ASU in October of 1976. Great photos. This was a weird size to fit on the scanner, but I think the chunking I did makes sense.

2.  The Eagles Record Hotel California. This looks like a page from Mojo or Q or some other British magazine that hates the Eagles.

3.  This is a photocopy of a newspaper ad announcing Day on the Green #6 on 8/3/76.

4.  Here's a review of Don's Inside Job visit to Chicago in 2001.

5. This just shows how much of a mess this stuff is in. We found page two of the Hotel California hatchet job. You can now download the complete file.

6.  Here's a copy of the setlist from the show that would become Glenn's Live in Dublin.

7.  Average Cool Joe. This is a cute interview before the band's 2002 Salt Lake Show.

8.  Fly Like an Eagle. Henley talked to TV Guide about the Grammy Awards back in 1990.

9.  This Eagle is Ready to Fly. Nice golf-themed article about Glenn from 2003. Great photo too.

10.  Steuart Smith. I think this is already up on the site, but it doesn't hurt to look at it again.

11.  Here's an invitation to the press party for Inside Job.

12.  The 2002 Mid-Year Pollstar special has some nice ads and photos.

13.  Here's part of the press kit for the band's Australian HFO leg.

I think that's it. Hope you enjoyed our little game of What's in the Box?

Press Release

Boxset_1 We've now gotten the offical Asylum / Elektra press release. You can download it and take a look at it (you'll need MS Word). There's really nothing new in it, though we wonder why they keep saying that this is the CD debut of Please Come Home for Christmas and Funky New Year. You can pre-order the box set from Rhino.

It's Official

The band's official site has finally released the details of the new set. Here's what they say:

The EAGLES BOX will showcase each of the seven albums that helped the band define an era, from 1972's self-titled debut to the band's 1980 two-disc Eagles Live, and featuring the band's No. 1 albums One Of These Nights, Hotel California and The Long Run. Each disc will be packaged in a CD replica of the original vinyl album (including original album cover art, collector's versions of the original posters and printed on comparable paper stock) and will be enclosed in a retro, gatefold jacket. The track listings duplicate the original albums.

The site has the set at a special pre-order price of $115. We're glad to see that this set is what we thought it was...a US version of the Japanese set and not something with new material that would make a fan fork over a lot of money just to get the new stuff.

A Few More Details on the Box Set

This is from MusicTap. Thanks JAS:

On March 15, (we've mentioned this before), Elektra/Asylum will release a 9CD Box set for The Eagles that is limited in production with only 20,000 sets available (list:$129.98). This set will contain all of their pre-reunion output in digipaks designed to replicate all of their original vinyl releases right down to gatefolds, pullout posters, and album sleeves held together by a sturdy box. The set will also contain a bonus disc that has "Please Come Home For Christmas", and "Funky New Year." Rockin'!!
