Henley Joins Bush Administration Environmental Commission
In a surprising move, Don Henley has accepted a post on President Bush's Environmental Protection Commission. Henley, long an opponent of Bush's environmental policy claims to have had a change of heart after spending a weekend clearing brush on Bush's Crawford "ranch".
"He convinced me," said a thoughtful Henley speaking by phone. "I was on the wrong side of what's right for the environment. I can't believe I'm saying this, but drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the perfect solution to our energy crisis. And of course, I was ignorant to not understand that the way to grow healthy forests is to cut down trees."
Henley claims that Bush is the perfect steward of the environment and is excited to begin work on the commission which is studying how lowering air and water protection standards can make air and water cleaner. Henley is so excited that he has offered land around Walden Woods for an office complex devoted to "...thinking about the environment"
