Celebration Suggestions

As some of you may know, 2006 marks the 10th year of this website and we've been trying to find some ways to commemorate the occasion. Is there something you'd like to see? For the most part, all of the really cool stuff we have is up here on the site in some form or fashion. (the oldest archived version we have can be viewed in part).

So...how should we commemorate the occasion? Contests? Special Features? Use the comments section of this post to let us know your ideas and we'll start working something up for later this summer!)

Making Nice with the Chicks

The Dixie Chicks have been added as the support act for the Twickenham show on June 17th. What an extra-cool surprise! Thanks to eaglemom for the heads-up on this!

Be a James Gang VIP

The James Gang will be offering VIP packages to some of their shows through I Love All Access. Information about the packages can be found on the James Gang Site. It would behoove you to sign up for the James Gang newsletter as they will be giving newsletter subscribers the opportunity to purchase ILAA seats before the general onsale date. As many of you have figured out, the sooner you buy an ILAA package, the better.

A couple of Felder Mentions

Don continues his streak of charity events by appearing at the annual benefit for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on May 12th.

Additionally, he'll be returning to the annual Dennis Quaid Charity golf event here in Austin. The tournament is early this year (we're wondering if it is to tie into Dennis' new movie publicity) and we're not sure we'll be able to attend. Usually the event is in June, but this year, it's May 4-7th. Aside from the golf and concert, there's a celebrity poker tournament as well, that we bet Don will attend.

VH1 Honors

One last treat before I pack it in for the evening. This is from Don's appearance at VH1 Honors in the late 90s. Despite some technical difficulties before his second song, it's a great set.

What's in the Easter Basket?

Today, we're doing one of our favorite things to do...open up a box of stuff, see what's inside and scan it for your viewing pleasure. There's no rhyme or reason to this (except the fact that the stuff has to fit on the scanner). We'll add things to this post as we upload them, so keep watching!

MTV Summer to Go Magazine Interview with Don -- This is essentially a text version of some of the interviews that went into making the Rockumentary, but it's got great photos and typical Henley quotes.

Glenn Story in Cashbox Magazine -- The article isn't the best..just a cursory rehash of Glenn's career, but the cover is VERY nice. I think the original is actually life sized :)

Amateur Radio CQ -- Joe gave a really nice interview ot Amateur Radio back in 2002. I thought this was on the site already, but couldn't find it anywhere. There's lots of technical information, but it's a great look into another side of Joe.

N. Texas trees of distinction to be cataloged -- A nice article about another one of Don's Texas efforts. In it, he proclaims that he is proud to be a tree hugger.

Soul Searchin' Press Kit -- There's some interesting info in here, but the cover profile statements are priceless!

Interview with Henley and Frey -- This is from the Rolling Stone special edition on the 70s. We've always had a photo copied excerpt of this up on the site, but this is the entire interview. Lots of interesting stuff in here. This took some creative scanning to get it to fit, so just remember to read each column at a time.

Slight Tweaks

I finally got the photos on the Jeopardy page to load correctly. I also tweaked the James Gang Tour Blog to match the official James Gang Tour site.

Glenn Frey will be performing at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on July 20th.  Tickets go on sale May 27th.  Thanks Karen for giving us the heads-up.

Glenn Solo Dates!

Glenn sure is true to his word.  Last year when he played at Orillia he promised he'd back and he's made good on that promise!  Ticketmaster is showing Glenn playing at Casino Rama on July 21st and July 22nd.  Tickets go on sale this Thursday!  Thanks to Mike in Vegas for alerting us to this.
