E2K

Lineup_2We're spending some of our off time this summer tightening up parts of the site. We've fixed links and added a few things to our page celebrating the band's legendary performance on New Year's Eve 1999.

More Glenn Photos

14407002_2Thanks to everyone who emailed to let us know about these Wireimage photos. You'll have to go look at them on their site as Wireimage really frowns on people posting their pictures. They are great!

Weekly News Update

Quote of the Week:  "Strive for perfection; Accept excellence" -- Glenn Frey

There's not a lot going on this week. The band has been in the studio working on the upcoming album so things have been a bit sparse. Here are a few tidbits for you, though.

Glenn Frey

  • Glenn played at the Starkey Hearing Foundation Benefit and helped raise 4.5 million dollars. We were hoping for photos or a review, but so far we have this report that merely mentions him.

Eagles

  • The Eagles aren't touring this summer, so to help pretend that they are you can read this review of cover band Talon's show in Worcester, England on June 22nd.
  • RoadworkRick wrote to let us know about a new book that may be of interest to Eagles fans. Some of you may remember that Joe was here in Austin during the South by Southwest music festival to support his friend, photographer, Tom Wright. Well, Mr. Wright has a new book out. It's called "Roadwork: Rock and Roll Turned Inside Out." Rick let us know about the Eagle-y parts. It's due out on July 1st and can be ordered from Amazon:
    • A bunch of pictures of Joe Walsh over the years and talks about him mostly in the late 60's and 70's. Best of all it has the hand written songlist of Long Run concert. There was a couple pages of Eagles shows in 1980 and a back stage picture of Don Henley I haven't seen before. Another of Tim and Joe backstage I haven't seen before. The reading goes on about the rehersal songs did prior a concert they would pick and old number and play it. Worth the read about the Eagles and Joe's friend that looked after him after his daughter got killed in the car crash.

International Rock Awards

International_rock_awardsOkay, we've been learning things with our new hardware and software and have started playing around with a few things. Here's a short clip of Don accepting an International Rock Award in 1991. He couldn't be at the ceremony and sent this video in. This is from one of our oldest Don videos. The clips on it are 15+ years old so the quality isn't the greatest, but there's some great stuff there. We've always loved Don's playful nature on this particular clip.

This is just a teaser for what we have planned for July. To celebrate Don's 60th birthday and to help fill out our Don Henley site, we'll be adding 60 things to the site in honor of Don's wonderful life and career. Stay tuned for that!

iPods?

So, we've been having some trouble doing video for a while and finally updated our hardware and software. We have some new options now and are wondering if people are interested in them. So, let us ask you come questions.

Would you like video encoded so that you can load it on your iPod?
Are you interested in custom ringtones for your phones?

What would you like to see us do with audio and video? Remember, this is your website!

Podcasts?

We've been learning a lot about podcasts in education (just went to a session on Garage Band this morning) and were wondering if this was something people here would be interested in? Would you be interested in being able to download a podcast about the Eagles? If so, what would you want in it? News? Commentary? History?

Would you want to be able to call in and give your own comments on a song or album or Eagle?

It's kind of exciting to think about all of the nifty technology that is out there and if this is something the community is interested in, we're happy to give it a try.

Let us know in the comments below.

Music in Review

MusicinreviewcoverUlla was kind enough to send us her copy of Eagles Music in Review. This is a DVD released in Europe of music critics talking about the Eagles. We've scanned some photos and text from the booklet that came with the DVD. Enjoy!
