There are a few brief quotes in this article about a botanical menace that is threatening Caddo Lake here in Texas. NBC did a story on this last night (no Don) and you can read more about it on their page. Thanks to all who sent this in. Things are starting to get busy around here...we started workshops this week leading up to the beginning of the school year in mid-August so please hang in there with us. Ugh!

Here's what he says about the new album:
The Eagles are planning to take flight with a long-awaited new album and a tour. Guitarist Joe Walsh tells Billboard.com that the album -- the Eagles' first full-length studio set since "The Long Run" in 1979 -- is "almost out. We're just finishing vocals and mixing it. We're all finally signing off on it."
Walsh says that all of the band members -- himself, Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. Schmit -- wrote songs for the album, which he says "go in some really, really new, different directions. It's hard to compare to anything that I hear out there now." For his songs, however, Walsh "went rock'n’roll," including one "extended" track with "a middle full of guitar statement" and another that's "full-on rock'n'roll. I didn't want us to be too ballad-y here. We need some stuff we can play live, so I made sure there was that element in the record."
Walsh says the band, which took this year off the road to hunker down on the album, plans to tour extensively in 2008.Joe also says: "I don't think I would cancel being an Eagle and resurface with a solo career. I love being in the Eagles, and we're not really done yet."
We had heard rumblings about this, but I guess the post on the official site confirms it.
Don will be playing at the Venetian Ballroom at The Venetian in Las Vegas on September 15th. Tickets go on sale this Saturday.

Big thanks to Sandy for finding this! Joe gave an interview to the Desert Post Weekly to promote his show at Coachella. He talks about his life and career and The Eagles. It's a great read full of Joe's wonderful sense of humor. Here's what he has to say about the new Eagles' album:
Walsh and the other Eagles have been working in Henley's studio on a new album since late last year.
It was supposed to be in WalMart stores in June. "We're mixing it, so I think it may be close," he says. "By the end of the year. I think it'll be next month, but who knows; I've been saying that for the past couple of months."
Tentatively titled "Hard Road Out Of Eden," the bulk of the work is done, he says.
"I'm pretty sure that's the title song," he says. "It's written in the eyes of a U.S. serviceman and the way he sees the world. It's a Don Henley song. But I don't think I should say anymore."

We also know we've fallen behind with our goal to get 60 Don things up in the month of July. We got a little derailed this week by a broken toilet that required what felt like 50 trips to the Home Depot. We're working on some stuff now, so rest assured, you will get 60 Henley treats!
OAG alerted us to the fact that Joe plays guitar on Kenny Chesney's cover of Dwight Yoakam's "Wild Ride", which will appear on Kenny's new album scheduled for release on September 11th.
Joe's summer tour dates start tomorrow in Primm, NV! Please post your reviews, thoughts, etc. on the tour blog. Hits is reporting that JD and the Straight Shot will open for Joe starting August 4th in Atlantic City and continue through the end of tour. Also, look for Grand Funk Railroad to open for Joe at the Illinois State Fair.
Apparently, Don will be part of the entertainment for the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino in Sparks, NV on August 30th.
