Pick It or Flick It

Tim let us know that the "How Long" video is one of the videos in this week's Pick it or Flick Iit on CMT's weekly countdown show. The Eagles are up against a new Trisha Yearwood video and right now they are behind BAD.  You vote via text-message and votes cost .99 (plus standard text messaging rates) so that could be why the Eagles only have 29% of the vote right now. So, if you are able to text message, consider helping them win this little competition. The winning video gets to come back next week and compete again!

#19!

Just checked this week's Billboard charts.  How Long is #19 on the Adult Contemporary chart.  Anyone know how it's doing on the country chart?

Bang For Your Buck

I added the times of each track to our Long Road Out of Eden page. Thanks Miika! Some of these songs are long! What do you think? Will this mean more lyrics or more extended guitar jams?

Track Listing

We're sitting in traffic on the commute home but wanted to let you know that the official track listing is now up. We can't post links right now from the phone. but there is an article with the list and more details at www.billboard.com

More when we get home.

Update: We're home. You can head over to Billboard to read the article and check out the track list. Obviously, I've been able to add some more information to our Long Road Out of Eden page. The track listing is there now as well as more details about some of the songs.

Weekend Update

We know that things have been CRAZY with all of the hoopla this week. Heck, we had a new single and a video and wow! Here are a few things that may have slipped through the cracks.

Eagles

The Rock/Pop Gallery has a nice feature on the cover of the Hotel California album. It's an interesting read.

If you've missed it, you may want to check out music blogger Bob Lefsetz's take on the new single and video. Part 1 | Part 2. If Bob pissed you off, make sure you then read this response (which also contains some info about the new album)

Remember to Vote for the Eagles on CMT!

We're working on assembling all of the information out there on "Long Road Out of Eden" and making a reference page. School is priority right now, though. Ugh. Is summer over already?

Joe Walsh

Joe is featured on the CD and DVD release of Dear Mr. Fantasy: A Tribute to Jim Capaldi. Joe participates in several Traffic/Capaldi covers including the finale of "Love Will Keep Us Alive". We've added these 2 items to our Amazon store.

Joe's just wrapped up his tour. Make sure to check out all of the reviews over on the TourBlog.

Don Felder

Heaven and Hell: My Life As An Eagle is available for pre-order from Barnes and Noble. Interestingly enough, the audio book comes out almost a month earlier.

Don is slated to participate in quite a few charity events. He'll be hosting the Felder/Keel tournament in the UK, at the Dave Thomas tournament in Spain and will participate again in Alice Cooper's Christmas event. Complete details are over at Felderfans.com

Enter The Contest

We know a lot of you pre-ordered from Wal*Mart and then were disappointed to see that preordering from the official site would get you entered in a contest to win plane fare and tickets to one of the Nokia shows. Well, you can enter the contest without preordering (you must still live in the US, though). To do so, head over to the contest entry page. You'll have to "join" musictoday, but it's easy. Thanks mcg119.

Speaking of The Eagles and Walmart....

WalmartSuus found these great photos taken by "emo" at the Walmart shareholders meeting last spring. They are available for purchase at pretty reasonable rates.

How's "How Long" Doing?

Is "How Long" Number 1 this week?  Well, not quite, but early indications show the single is performing VERY well.   Hits says, "....industry watchers are expressing surprise that the Eagles are having such great success at radio with the new single “How Long” under their exclusive deal with the big-box merchant...." and also reports the song is doing well across the board, in all different radio formats.

Billboard says:

"The Eagles are back, though their new single "How Long" (ERC/Lost Highway) hasn't appeared on the Hot 100 yet. The first sighting is on Hot Country Songs, where "How Long" debuts at No. 44, making it the highest-ranked Eagles song on this chart in 30 years.

"How Long" is the fifth Eagles tune to appear on Hot Country Songs. The first, "Lyin' Eyes," peaked at No. 8 in 1975 and remains the group's biggest country hit. In 1977, "New Kid in Town" rose to No. 43. Four years later, "Seven Bridges Road" drove to No. 55. In 1994, "The Girl from Yesterday" stopped at No. 58."

Imagine how great the album's going to do!
