Alex just emailed to let us know that Eagles will be featured on this weekend's edition of CMT Insider. It airs on Saturday at 2 PM Eastern. They promise to have an interview with the band. Thanks Alex!
By all reports, the presenters really wasted their opporutnity having Glenn and Joe on their show. If you want to see if for yourself, though, you'll be able to download the program for 5 more days. Thanks to Graham for letting us know about this.
FAST COMPANY: The Eagles’ Long Road Out of Eden, which hit shelves at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club yesterday, generated the biggest first-day sales total ever for the chain, “by far,” according to a Wal-Mart source. He wouldn’t give the figure, but he did say it exceeded projections by 50%.
MORE FAST COMPANY: The Eagles will soar to #1 on this week's Clear Channel Top 200 On Demand chart, with nearly 300k plays and 411k page views. Long Road Out of Eden was streamed on 620 stations as part of CC’s Sneak Peeks promo.
AIRBORNE AGAIN:Long Road Out of Eden, The Eagles’ first studio album in 28 years, debuts at #1 on the European charts and is expected to top the charts in every territory in which it’s available. Meanwhile, in the U.S., where the band has an exclusive arrangement with Wal-Mart, the CD is reportedly flying off the shelves on day one of release.
It's great how everyone has been leaving their opinions of the songs over on our Long Road Out of Eden page. It's difficult, though, to discuss things like lyrics and themes in a blog format. For that reason, we've started the LROE Song Club over on Eagleland. It works just like a book club. We'll take a song a day (or so) and ask some starter discussion questions to get the ball rolling. We hope you all take part in sharing and discussing this new album (I can't quite get over the fact that we have a new Eagles album to discuss). In honor of Tim's birthday, we're starting with "I Don't Want to Hear Any More".
This year it's like Tim's birthday is on Christmas...there's so much else going on! We hope that Tim has a great day. To celebrate his milestone birthday (can you believe he's 60?!?) we want to make sure that you know about the Feed The Fire fan page (which is an extension of the Keep On Tryin' Page) run by our friend Karen. She's got everything there a Tim fan could want or need. Happy Birthday Tim!
According to our clock, "Long Road Out of Eden" has been released. We know there will be lots to talk about today, but post below and let us know how you got your copy and how you listened to it. What are your first impressions of the actual CD?
There is a great piece in USA Today. Some of what gets said is old, but some is refreshingly new. We're left pondering the question, though, of what Glenn Frey will be doing next. Appearing in "Chicago" or creating a Big Band album? This gets more and more interesting. That's for sure.
You'll be able to ask them on the BBC's The One show. Submit your questions ahead of time using the handy form on the show's website. Post the questions you submitted below to let us all know what you asked. If you are outside of the UK, you'll have to just choose something for your region. Remember to make sure to choose "Questions for the Eagles" where it asks you to select what you want feedback on. Thanks Austin!
