An Eagle-Y Kind of Day

It seemed like every time we turned around today there was a little Eagles tidbit to discover.

Lefsetz on Long Road  Bob Lefsetz's column today was about niche marketing and Long Road Out of Eden. We disagree with Bob on a few points, but you may want to take a look at it.

It Pays to Be An Eagles Fan I was catching up on my DVR'd Jeopardy games and found this clue from Monday's show kind of amusing: The decorative pattern seen here is called this "-and-dart" (if the picture doesn't come up yet, you'll have to wait for the J-Archive to upload it).

It's Don Felder Mmmmkay? If you watched tonight's new episode of South Park then you know that "Heavy Metal" played an integral role.

I agree LROE does not get the airplay it deserves, I loved it the very first time I heard it, especially the guitar riff towards the end, and it was an absolute joy to see them playing this live and Joe was fantastic, as was Stuart Smith. When you hear them doing it live it's hard to believe that it's a 10 min + track as you are so engrossed it seems like if you blinked you would miss it. I was so enthralled by them that it now seems all of a blur. I do hope that they were filming the concert at the O2 for a future DVD,or if not I hope that they film one of the concerts on this tour.
Here in the UK the only radio station that I have ever heard play LROE is Gold on DAB and Nicky Horne is the only DJ to play it, he normally plays it on one of his shows either on a Saturday afternoon from 3.00 p.m.(GMT), or on the Classic album show on a Sunday from 4.00 p.m.

I agree with the Bob's idea about what LROOE would become if it was being played on the radio. That song absolutely gets better and better with each listen, and I cannot believe it's nowhere to be found on terrestrial or satellite radio. When I first heard the song itself, I wasn't wild about, but now it's become one of my new favorites. Time and history will render it a classic, no bother if radio stations aren't paying attention right now. Remember, Desperado was never officially released as a single and that song eventually got it's due and airplay.
