AZOFF AT D7: Ticketmaster chief Irving Azoff was one of the speakers at the D7 “All Things Digital” conference in Carlsbad, CA, and, after being introduced by Joe Walsh (“All the guys in the Eagles love him. He has a beautiful house that we bought him”), weighed forth on a variety of topics. He is “very optimistic” the Ticketmaster-Live Nation merger will be approved by the end of the year, is bullish on the current “narrowcasting” of the business, predicts record labels will exist more as “rights repositories” in the future and insists Bruce Springsteen is “uninformed” as to the “potential” of pairing his ticket company with a live promoter, insisting “Everything we do revolves around what’s good for the artist and what’s good for the fan.
