Felder and Meisner in Record Collector

AprilJoeB and HelenB sent us these two great articles from the April, 2008 issue of Record Collector. There is an extensive interview with Don Felder and a shorter piece with Randy Meisner. I couldn't get my PDF program to join these files, so you'll have to download them one page at a time. Sorry.

Felder: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

Meisner: 1

I'm locking the comments on this post. It seems like every time we post something about Don Felder, we have to deal with general nastiness in the comments section. If you'd like to discuss this article, you are more than welcome to come over to Eagleland to do so. I've set up a topic just for that purpose. Sorry if that seems like a hassle, but some people don't know how to play nice.

Randy in Classic Rock

Last month we brought you a QnA with Don Henley from the UKs Classic Rock magazine. We noticed that this month's issue would feature more Eagles content (of course, we have to wait until Borders carries it here stateside). So, we've now got this nice little interview with Randy to share with you. Enjoy!

Randy Taking it to the Streets?

Leslie let us know about this post on SonicPast Music. No confirmation yet, but it is an interesting rumor:

Randy Meisner, the golden voice of the Eagles ‘ “Take it to the Limit” has put together a group and is now working out the details for opening some dates for the The Doobie Brothers on West Coast leg of their US Summer tour this year, and possibly more dates on that tour in other regions of the US as well.

Tuesday Tidbits

Just a few things to get you through the week.

Tim reported that he's seen the Busy Being Fabulous video on the Great American Country channel (GAC) so it must be in rotation.

ILAA packages for Atlanta go on sale tomorrow. 5 Star packages are listed at $795 (but that includes parking).

Apparently, the Randy imposter is at it again. Mike let us know that he ran into him at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.

A slew of news reports have mentioned Don as being one of the entertainers at a media event in France to launch the new QTrax music downloading service. This service says that it will have thousands of free songs available for download because they've got licensing deals with 4 of the major record labels. There's apparently some controversy because the service has launched and not all of the licensing deals are in place. We have no other information about why Don was there. It would be interesting to hear him talk about something like this and if he thinks its a viable alternative to illegal file-sharing and .99 cent downloads at iTunes.

Get some Randy music

Meisner_love_me_tnThere was also a short blurb in the Discoveries magazine about some Randy music that's become available. Sonicpast music has Randy's Love Me or Leave Me Alone (a collection of previously unreleased recordings from 1977- the '90s). This disc includes a live "Take it to the Limit" and "Take it Easy". They also have albums from Meisner, Swan & Rich as well as The Poor. The cool thing about this site is that you can order the CD, order individual tracks in MP3 form, or just get the whole album in MP3 format.

New Randy Interview!

Huge, giant thanks go out to Dan B. who came through and got us a copy of Randy's recent interview in Discoveries magazine. Thanks so much! This is a very comprehensive interview about Randy's history and thoughts about the band. Because of the way it had to be copied and scanned, you'll have to make sure to read this correctly. Pages 1_2 are fine the way they are. When you download pages 3_4, 5_6, and 7_8, think of them as large pages and read one column all the way through the two pages, then head back up to the top and read the next column all the way down. Page 9 is fine the way it is. Thanks again, Dan. Fastlane visitors rock!

Randy's POV

RandyajIn 1994, American Journal did an interview with Randy who expressed his disappointment at not being asked back for the resumption tour. There's lots of great rare video in this, including some live Randy performances and a quick quote from Joe Walsh.
