Well, call us cynical, but we had only a glimmer of hope that the bonus CD at Walmart would really contain 3 "brand new songs" as advertised in the Black Friday ad. Well folks, it's new stuff.
No More Cloudy Days is the first song on the bonus CD. We think it is a studio version, but Farewell I sounded so good to begin with that it is hard to tell.
We've only given the other two songs one listen so far, but here you go:
Fast Company (written by Don and Glenn) sounds like it could have been on the Long Run album. Don starts off the song in a Disco-strangleresque falsetto. The song has really funky guitars and bass (and horns for you haters :) ) The song seems to be hanging out with a fast crowd.
The refrain says "Fast Company...fast company...going nowhere fast". On a second listening, it's a cautionary tale from the Eagles who have "been there" to someone who is living fast and hard (think K-Fed). The bridge is kind if Inside-jobby. Favorite line so far? "This world is beautiful...this world is dangerous" Give this song a couple of listens before you make your mind up about it...it grows on you.
Do Something (written by Henley, Schmit and Smith) is just beautiful and will be a hit on country radio. It's vintage Eagles with a Timothy B. Schmit lead vocal and steel guitars. Don sings on the bridge. It's about a guy who has lost his woman..."...tryin' to make sense of what you left me". He's got to "dig deep...and do something". Lots of crystal clear Eagles harmonies on this.
Please don't ask us to make MP3s available. This is brand new stuff folks...head out to Walmart and get a copy. It's worth it.
